sunday lunch

Slowly trying to convert my parents, especially my dad that Sunday lunch / dinner is not always pho. We wanted to eat Thai again, but the restaurant is not open until dinner, so we settled for Italian instead.

I wanted to drink lemon granita, but the waitress said there was none. Settled for lemon sparkling mineral water instead. Tastes like Solo!

As the serving portions are quite large, we ordered 3 dishes to share among 4 people. Satisfying lunch, only downfall was that the waitress serving us wasn't so friendly :/

I still want to eat Thai food though :-P

chocolate scones

I bought cream the other day supposedly for my Portuguese tart which I never ended up making because I got lazy. Instead of throwing the cream out, I decided to make a batch of cream scones - just changing the recipe for some chocolate ones :) Made the scones for supper therefore the photo quality isn't that great.

oven:
200 degrees Celsius
fan forced

ingredients:
makes around 14, depending on size

• 3 cups self raising flour (minus 1 Tb), sifted
• 4 Tb brown sugar
• 1 Tb dutch cocoa powder, sifted
  (I would put more cocoa next time, for the colour)
• 1 cup good quality chocolate chips
• 1 egg
• 150 mL cream
• 150 mL milk
• extra flour, milk and sugar

method:


1. Combine the sifted flour, cocoa, brown sugar and chocolate chips in a mixing bowl. Stir to combine.

2. Whisk egg into cream and milk.

3. Pour the cream mixture into the flour.

4. Stir until nearly combined and empty contents to a flour dusted chopping board.

5. Gently knead the dough until it comes together and cut dough into desired size.

6. Place on a prepared baking tray, brush with milk and sprinkle a sugar (can use caster sugar too) on top.

7. Bake in a preheated oven for 15-20 minutes.

They taste best when slightly cooled from the oven. Melted chocolate, yum!

Guess who received a bag full of goodies from Murasaki and Sars today. Me! :)

We met because of our stupidity; forgetting to bring our normal school uniform to change back from P.E class in year seven. We were so paranoid of getting detention back then! Although you didn't keep to this year's new year's resolution, have constant back/stomach/knee/leg cramps and pains when the lunch bell rings and make weird nicknames for the guys, thank you for being a great friend/ stalker companion. :-D

Sars on the other hand. Hrm I reckon our "goody-goody" nature bonded us together. I've seen you change from the extremely quiet girl in primary to the more open and pink-obsessed you now :) It's so great you not so quiet anymore, it was hard to communicate! You'll kill me for typing this (but since you haven't made an account, you won't see this...yet) but I'll always remember you as the nerd running happily in the library XD (even though you did see us in there).

And both of you, stop stressing :-D You can do that at the end of the year ;)

happy burp day

The last few minutes of lunch time caught me by surprise. Doodie and Mrs.Roddick came back from their daily lunch trip and brought back a box of...cake!

Along with Murasaki, Doodie, Mrs Roddick and most of her "clan" the E.T. (Easy Targets) Clan sang me a very heartfelt birthday song as I blew out the candles :) I was very touched!

Chocolate mousse cake

Eeeek! Excuse the chipped off part of the cake, I fail in cutting cakes!

Unfortunately, we couldn't cut the cake as there was no knife set and the bell was going to ring any moment. It would've been nice to share a cake with friends :D

The cake was really yummy and the mousse was light and creamy. I'm just glad it didn't go off in the heat.

The day went by better than alright. Birthday wishes throughout the whole day and most importantly, a passing mark on my further maths test (which raises my average to a pass)!

Dropped by at Burning Books after school to FINALLY pick up the book I had reserved last month. Received a discount which was good and placed an order for the two newer volumes for 「メイちゃんの執事」getting a new set of manga too「よつばと！」. If you've never read あずまきよひこ　の「よつばと！」you are missing out BIG TIME!
